Contemporary Aboriginal Art, Considered and Placed

Studio Australis connects architects and designers across the UK and Europe with exceptional contemporary Aboriginal art.

Established relationships with artists, Aboriginal community-run Art Centres and selected galleries allow us to source on the ground in Australia. Bridging the gap between the breadth of work being created and what is typically accessed internationally. We bring this access together with an understanding of interior projects, helping works of distinctive character and meaning find their place in homes, hotels, restaurants and workplaces.

The Art Comes First

The art - and the artists who create it - are the heroes of Studio Australis. Our role is to bring their work to new audiences with the care, context and attention it deserves.

We work directly with Aboriginal community-controlled Art Centres and artists, as well as selected studios and partner galleries that share our strict standards. Every work is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and supporting provenance documentation.

Ethical sourcing is non-negotiable. Studio Australis is a signatory to the Indigenous Art Code, committing us to fair, transparent and respectful dealings with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.

A Service Designed Around Projects

We work alongside design teams to develop focused selections, with clear information on the artist, provenance, availability, pricing and programme. Our involvement can extend from sourcing and importation only, through to framing and final placement - according to the project’s requirements.

Led by Experience Across Art and Interior Projects

Studio Australis is led by Marc David, an Australian and European citizen working across Australia, the UK and Europe. His background spans arts and project development across luxury hospitality, retail and commercial property, and decades of experience enhancing the built environment.

The studio combines this understanding of interiors and project delivery with established relationships across Australia’s Aboriginal art sector - providing design professionals with a thoughtful, reliable and ethically grounded source of significant contemporary Aboriginal art.
